WHAT TO EXPECT:
Attendees will create figure sketches from a clothed model doing timed poses with guidance from Aube and Kat. We will warm up with 2-5 minute poses before moving on to longer 10-20 minute sketches.
We will provide newsprint and some charcoal / pencils.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite drawing supplies.

Small easels and drawing boards are welcome.

Optional materials to bring:
Sketchbooks / Drawing paper
Large drawing boards
Drawing materials

What to expect:

Attendees will create an abstract painting with creative & technical guidance.
The painting will be created on watercolor paper with acrylic paints.
An overview of basic color mixing, color pallet selection and composition design will be given before painting begins.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own sketchbooks/paper or painting projects and WIPs!

Optional materials to bring:
Personal paintbrushes
Sketchbooks or various papers
Pens for inking

October 5th, join us in Dock Street Park for the next edition of PLF Workshops. Grow your fan flow skills with multifaceted artist and talented pyromancer Cat Nightengale! @cat_byrd_art (IG)

💥Learn how to grip, move, and flow through various movements and technical combinations with fans!
Cat will go over some prop-specific variations step by step while offering valuable feedback and helpful tips in a nourishing and welcoming learning environment.

📌There will be practice cut-out fans available
for those who don’t have their own pair. Day fans and fire fans are both appropriate for learning and practicing, and all grip types are welcome, however we will not be lighting up fire props during the workshop.

Pyrocircus makes its return to the streets of Richmond this October!

Join PLF outside of Gallery 5 Arts to welcome autumn, celebrate community, and revel at special performances during our next public show on Friday, October 4th, from 6-11 PM.

As always, this is a free and public community event - all ages are welcome. Come check out all that First Fridays, Jackson Ward, and Gallery 5 have to offer!
